Adelia!
In Memory of Adelia Mae Dundas (2011-2021)
Grade 1.5
An energetic take on a familiar hymn sung for and by many children across the world, "Adelia!" captures the infectious enthusiasm of a fiery, boisterous little red-head girl juxtaposed with the feeling of a tender embrace from her loving Lord and Savior.
"Adelia!" is written with a small-school band program in mind but has the power to sound good with any sized group. Range-wise, this piece is playable at the end of most students' first year of study. Clarinets do not cross the break and brass ranges are less than an octave. Generous doubling in all parts. Optional parts for more advanced percussionists included.
A great closer for your young band with plenty of opportunities for deeper learning and a heartbreaking/heartwarming story behind it.

In the Little
Jelly Doughnut Woods
For wind Band
Grade 3.5
$75.00
Often referred to as "The Waltz King," Johann Strauss, Jr. wrote nearly as many polkas as waltzes. This polka is by far his cutest...and it includes two types of bird whistles! Offering myriad opportunities to teach about color, stylistic nuance and musical independence, this light selection can easily belong in the middle or at the end of your concert program!
So far as I can tell, In the Little Jelly Doughnut Woods is not at all about jelly doughnuts (darn). The original title was Im Pawlowsk Walde, or “In the Pavlovsk Woods”, Pavlovsk being a southern suburb of St. Petersburg, Russia, which is where the piece premiered on September 6, 1869. According to naxos.com, when the audience demanded several encores, the “commercially-minded” Mr. Strauss wanted to give it a local flavor back in his hometown, thus retitling the piece Im Krapfenwald’l or “In Krapfen’s Woods,” which referred to a popular area in the far northwestern corner of Vienna.

Freezing Snow
For SATB Choir and Marimba
Grade 5
Text and music by Mike Neumeyer
Arranged for Choir by
Justin Marshall Riley
Originally composed for marimba and solo voice, this arrangement adds a majestic layer of harmony in the vocals and takes the pressure off of the marimbist to sing while playing. This opens up Freezing Snow to be accessible to many more singers and players. Using patterns and permutations from the best of intermediate marimba literature and legato vocals, this work is a fun piece for singers and marimbists alike! I hope after listening you will have Freezing Snow in your ear… in your ear… I mean the melodyof… you know what I mean…
Imagine the snow is just starting to form. It is not a heavy or wet snow, but a light and fluffy snow. It melts as soon as it touches your skin. One flake at a time, it builds up and there is full snowfall.

Dedication
Fughetta, Toccata, Fanfare and Chorale on
Crown Him With Many Crowns
For Organ
Grade 5+
Dedication is, above all, a celebration of the triumph of our Lord, our Savior, our King, Christ Jesus. Based on the hymn tune Crown Him With Many Crowns, the composer places bits and pieces of the original melody in a Fughetta (a shorter, looser version of a fugue), a brief Toccata, and the piece is brought to a resounding close with a chorale.
There are 12 statements of the first 2 bars of the original melody scattered throughout the piece, in addition to excerpts from different parts of the melody and a few references to another hymn tune. See if how many you can count!
Dedication in D Major was premiered on Sunday, April 14, 2019 by Dr. Wayne Wagner at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Madison as part of a recital to dedicate the church’s new organ.
